- We had representation at the Activity Fair today
- We are now an "official" chapter of STAND
- We boxed up clothes to send to the Darfur People's Association in Brooklyn. We tried to make telephone contact with the organization and also sent an email.
- We drafted a press release/article about the committee and its work (with mention of the clothing drive) for the newspapers
- We counted the change in the 400,000 pennies jugs so far and started making a thermometer display.
- We discussed ideas for next year - holding events in the fall such as the Dine In, scavenger hunt fundraiser, "Dunk for Darfur," Comedy Hypnosist, and education/awareness campaigns at other LI schools and/or connecting with other local chapters.
This has been a great couple of months (remember, we really just started at the end of March). We have done an excellent job of starting to raise awareness, working well together as a group, and getting things in motion that will carry over to the next school year. I am really proud of the commitment that everyone has shown and am looking forward to picking things up in the fall. Until that time, please do use this blog as a form of communication over the summer.
